Chaplains from Adventist hospitals in Mindanao recently gathered to deliberate on crucial matters related to the spirituality of hospital workers, patient care, and the integral role these aspects play in advancing the church's mission. The gathering took place at the Southwestern Philippine Union Conference (SWPUC) headquarters on November 28–30, 2023.

Under the guidance of Pr. Elvin Salarda, the Adventist Chaplain Ministries Director, the event paved the way for fruitful discussions. Attendees included chaplains such as Victor Navarro of Iligan City Adventist Medical Hospital, Jimmy Sabandal of Davao City Adventist Medical Hospital, Jovyn Jimenez of Valencia City Adventist Medical Hospital, and Joesel Grijaldo of Gingoog Sanitarium and Hospital. Spouses of the chaplains also attended, adding a familial touch to the gathering.

Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries significantly contribute to the sharing of the gospel in hospitals by providing holistic care that addresses patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Emphasizing emotional support, spiritual guidance, and crisis intervention, chaplains offer comfort and encouragement, respecting diverse religious beliefs and cultural backgrounds. Through collaborative efforts with healthcare teams, they create an inclusive environment that fosters the sharing of the gospel across various contexts. The ministry's commitment to education ensures chaplains are well-equipped for effective hospital ministry, making a positive impact on patients, families, and staff. By embodying the teachings of the gospel, Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries creates spaces of compassion where individuals can find strength, hope, and solace during times of medical challenges.

The highlights of the meeting were the crafted endorsements addressed to the Adventist Chaplain Ministries Committee of SWPUC. These endorsements aim to fortify and elevate the role of hospital chaplains, emphasizing heightened efficiency in the service.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment to delivering spiritual care to others.
