ASI Partners with Adventist Organizations in Southeastern Philippines to Help Raise Funds for New College Facility

A delegation consisting of 76 orchestra performers arrived at the Adventist Church in Davao (DM) on the 23rd of March. Their purpose is to participate in the MVC Orchestra Concert held at the CAP Convention Center. The event, organized by Adventist Laymen's Services & Industries (ASI) in Davao, Philippines, aimed to raise funds for the construction and completion of the Mountain View College (MVC) Medical Technology Building. This facility is slated to be built on the campus located at Mount Nebu, Valencia City, Bukidnon.

MVC President Dr. Remwil Tornalejo views this as a unique opportunity to witness the exceptional talents of Adventists in the region while also advancing the college's mission. He sees it as a chance to realize a dream that will enhance the college's capacity to fulfill its educational objectives.

The concept of establishing the facility took shape during a discussion between Tornalejo and Mr. Lawrence Llamera. Llamera, former treasurer of the Adventist Church in Davao. Llamera not only gave his enthusiastic approval but also initiated a call to action.

However, the progression of events faced a potential delay when the South Philippine Union Conference (SPUC) underwent division, resulting in the establishment of two regional headquarters. This restructuring led to changes in leadership positions across Mindanao. Nevertheless, the vision to construct a facility utilizing the talents of MVC's proficient stringed instrument players remained intact.

The plan unfolded seamlessly as Dr. Tornalejo connected with Mr. Rommel Jon Nebres, an Adventist businessman and an active local church leader also serving as ASI Officer, all sharing a common goal. Subsequently, meticulous planning ensued. Along with its officers, ASI committed resources and influence to move the project forward under the direction of its president, Engr. Meljune D. Orillosa.

Llamera, assuming the role of treasurer in the newly established Adventist Church in the Southeastern Philippines (SePUM), effectively rallied fellow leaders behind the cause. Concurrently, church organizations and neighboring institutions under the SePUM umbrella shared their enthusiasm and passion for the fund-raising concert.

Volunteers and sponsors flew in, ticket sales slowly reached their margin, and venue, promotional, and technical requirements were met. March 23 came, luring spectators from various churches and districts to the CAP Convention Center in Davao City.

The Sabbath afternoon was a memorable occasion as individuals from diverse backgrounds congregated alongside Adventist business leaders of ASI. The program was brimming with uplifting songs and heartfelt testimonies, highlighting ASI's dedication to various causes. These included supporting scholarship programs for underprivileged yet promising students, conducting outreach initiatives, and fostering friendship-based evangelism approaches.
